30,000 Pounds of Food Scraps Composted at Madison, WI Farmers’ Markets: Closing in on 2025 Food Scraps Recycling Goal

"The City of Madison Streets Division is happy to announce that they have collected 30,177 pounds of food scraps for composing at three farmers’ market drop-off sites. In 2025, the goal is to collect 40,000 pounds of food scraps for composting. That is approximately the weight of 20 mature bison, which would make for a small (yet mighty) herd.
They have just under 10,000 pounds of scraps to collect to reach this year’s goal. And there are only 7 weeks left in the farmers’ market season. People can take your scraps for free to one of three neighborhood farmers’ market locations for composting. The sites are the South Madison Farmers’ Market, the Eastside Farmers’ Market, and the Westside Community Market. ..."
